Super Easy Eggy Egg Tart Recipe- 5 Ingredients

~Do forgive me, dear Readers, for the lack of updates in the past weeks– I was having my second Trimester exams. But now I`m freeeee!! Free like a bird that has to land and sit for exams again in a few months….

~Anyway, quite a few other events took place recently– Thu Tra celebrated her 20th birthday on the 8th of April in class with us, Tamil New Year was celebrated on 14/4/2014(such an awesome number-lining!), Nika, Alya and I went on a Hannibal Series marathon, went to the Lindt-Chocolate Factory in Aachen West, etc.

~For today, I`ll be sharing this recipe on how to make egg tarts(Hong Kong style) from a Youtube video Zoe found and we(Zoe, Alya and I) decided to try out. Here`s what you`ll need for the Egg Tarts(yields around 12 tarts):

Tart base Ingredients:

  1. 200g Flour.
  2. 80g Sugar.
  3. 1 Egg.
  4. 100g Butter.

Tart Filling Ingredients:

  1. 3 Eggs.
  2. 100g Sugar melted in 100ml hot water.
  3. 100ml Milk.

Tart Base Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 160degrees.
  2. Mix the butter, sugar, flour, and egg together.
  3. When sticky, knead it.
  4. After kneading the dough, press dough into the mould with fingers. Don`t make the base too thick. Excess dough can be made into cookies!
  5. Use a fork and poke the dough to make holes at the base.
  6. Now, to the filling! 😀

  2. Sieve the mixture twice.
  3. Pour filling into tart base– not all the way to the top. Maybe 2/3 till the top of the base.
  4. Bake for 20-25 mins at 160 degrees.
  5. Take out, let it cool, serve!

~Here`s the link to the video we followed(Improvised only slightly). I`d rate this recipe 8/10 cause I like sweet things but the original recipe(and even our improvised version) wasn`t sweet enough. I`d suggest adding more sugar if you have a sweet tooth.

~Now, back to my blabbering. HANNIBAL!!! The series is just plain awesome! I was following the series from last year, but this year, when season 2 was released, I procstinated watching it. Then, a week before my exams, I decided to watch the first episode. Nika passed by and was interested, so she joined in. By the fourth episode of season 2, Alya became `embraced in the madness` as well!(That`s the motto-thing for the series– Embrace The Madness) It seriously is a good series written by Bryan Fuller with awesome actors(Hugh Dancy and Mads Mikkelsen)

~At the moment, since we`ve caught up with the Hannibal series, we`re watching American Horror Story to fill in the one week waiting time till the next episode of Hannibal. We`re at season 3 episode 5. Season-wise, the more the seasons, the creepier it gets! 😀 A good series that doesn`t get bad with more seasons is a rare find these days– which brings me to Once Upon a Time. I stopped watching that series after the second season. But Once Upon A Time in Wonderland was good– thank goodness they ended it before screwing it up!

~Also, Happie soon-to-be Easter folks! The Institute is giving us students a week long break for the Easter Holidays! Zoe`s going back to China tomorrow; Alya and Nika will be leaving on Friday at around the same time but to different destinations– Alya to Malaysia; Nika to Russia. I`ll only have Riya to spend my holidays with *sigh* Going to Frankfurt tomorrow till Monday though– to celebrate Tamil New Year with my Indian buddies from Malaysia who are studying here as well 😀

~My holidays have started! Since I have to sit for the Biologie paper instead of Maths, my exams lasted from last Thursday(10/4/2014) till this Tuesday(15/4/2014). Nika, Alya, Riya and Zoe end their exams tomorrow cause they have Maths instead of Biologie– feels good to have your exams start and end early, hehe. Also, this semester will be the last semester our teacher Guido will be teaching us German 😦 I`m gonna miss him– I dislike it– getting used to people. You get used to them, and they leave you. My entire life has been filled with people coming in and going out *sigh* For the third sem, it`s said that a teacher named Michael will be teaching us. Once again, I`ll have to suffer getting used to a new person….

At Lindts-- we had to keep catching photos of chocos to send to Nika so we`d know what chocos to get her hehe
